Keith Smith is an independent consultant specialising in payment systems and is a consultant to a number of organisations within the banking and payment technologies industries as well as to a number of South African Government initiated projects. Keith Smith Consulting facilitates cooperation between all relevant stakeholders in the banking and payments industry, public transport regulatory authorities and operators, as well as technology providers and vendors, to collaborate on the use of technology based on open standards for Automatic Fare Collection in order to implement AFC solutions that are interoperable across all modes and services of public transport in South Africa.
